Following the success of our first two workshops, we are pleased to announce that the Photobook Mentor Program III will take place in Spring 2017.
Comprising of a series of intensive two-day collaborative workshops, the Photobook Workshop Series will cover a range of contemporary publishing models, from indie zines through to high quality luxury editions, ranging from traditional photography books to experimental photobooks that push the boundaries of the publishing medium.
The mentor program will be led by Nicholas McLean - Founder/Publisher at Éditions du LIC and Alessandro Calabrese - Photographer/Teacher (Lecturer in Photography and Visual Design at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milan and Accademia Carrara du Belle Arti Bergamo) with visiting guest mentors during each weekend of the workshop (details to be announced shortly). Previous guest mentors have included Erik Kessels (Kessels Kramer), Gregoire Pujade-Lauraine (Mack Books) and Hannah Watson (Trolley Books).
Mentors and guest mentors will work in close collaboration with participants to convert their photo projects into print-ready books. The program will cover the complete book making process from concept through curation, sequencing and layout to final design. Additional lectures will provide essential information about bookmaking materials, printing techniques, bookbinding options, distribution, self-publishing and advice about approaching potential publishers.
The price does not include travel and accommodation for the weekend workshops. However, we offer a simple breakfast, buffet lunch and a variety of refreshments throughout the workshop. A 50% deposit by bank transfer is required once you have been accepted to the Photobook Mentor Program with the remaining 50% due one week before the start of the program.
